Army North gains new deputy commanding general
July 31, 2017
U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) welcomed Brig. Gen. Richard C. Kim and his family to Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston at a welcoming ceremony held at the historic quadrangle July 27. Kim assumes responsibility as the deputy commanding general and director of operations for Army North. He most recently served as the deputy director, program analysis and evaluation, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, Washington, D.C. The ARNORTH DCG is the eyes and ears for the commanding general and as the director of operations, is responsibility for daily and future operations and exercises. Lt. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan welcomed the Kims to the Fifth Army family and said Kim possess all the qualities to accomplish the Army North mission.
