Operation R.I.S.E. – which stands for Resources Inspiring Stellar Education – is a community collaborative effort amongst University of Texas at San Antonio Center for Military Families, Operation Homefront, JBSA Military Child Education Program-School Liaison Office, Exceptional Family Member Program-Family Support and Military Child Education Coalition and other organizations throughout the San Antonio area that serve military students, pre-k through 12.

The purpose of the event, which takes place from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 19 at Tri-Point Grantham Hall at 3233 N. St. Mary’s St., is to provide military and veterans' families with vital resources to include special needs, essential school supplies, backpacks and information to help them begin the upcoming school year empowered with confidence.

Free backpacks will be provided for those that qualify through Operation Homefront's Backpack Brigade. Community resource booths about school and community services, youth programs, assistance programs, health and safety will be on hand so parents can find useful resources.

There will also be resources for homeschool families, college-bound youth and special games and prizes.   The San Antonio Library's Caravan will be there and much more. There will also be additional free school supplies while they last.

For additional information about eligibility requirements, send email to jbsa.slo@us.af.mil. To register for a backpack, register at http://events.OperationHomefront.org.
