JBSA-Fort Sam Houston

Construction is scheduled at Walters Gate (Fort Sam Houston) starting May 22, 2026, for approximately six weeks.
 
Daily Traffic Schedule:  
    
7:00 AM - 11:00 AM | Outbound traffic limited to ONE lane.
11:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Outbound traffic expands to TWO lanes (utilizing one inbound lane). Inbound traffic limited to three lanes.
After 5:00 PM | Work areas will be plated, and normal gate traffic patterns will resume overnight. 
 
Please plan accordingly and drive safely through the construction zone.

Northbound I-35 Exit Ramp Closure
The Northbound I-35 exit ramp at Brooke Army Medical Center will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Drivers who need to access the Brooke Army Medical Center should follow posted detour signs. Motorists should exit at Binz-Engleman Road to access the northbound I-35 frontage road.
