Person(s) not in possession of a military ID, Department of Defense civilian or contractor ID, or previously issued active base access pass must enter JBSA-Lackland through the Visitor Control Centers.
There are two ways to provide unescorted access to JBSA: 1. In-person sponsorship, where the sponsor is physically at the Visitor Control Center with the guest. 2. Email a JBSANANTONIO Form 7-Unescorted Access Request from a secure government email account.
Over-the-phone sponsorship requests will not be accepted.
Note: Authorized credential holders may only sponsor visitors onto JBSA if the sponsor making the request is physically located on JBSA at the time of the request and through the duration of the visit.
To sponsor via email from a government account (all sponsors must be physically at JBSA) Step 1: Fill out JBSANANTONIO 7 Form. Step 2: Submit your request to the JBSA-Lackland at lackland.vrc@us.af.mil. Step 3: A confirmation number will be emailed to sponsor. Ensure your guest has this number in order for them to receive their access pass.
Allow 10 business days to processing, as no short-term request will be processed without the VCC Lead or NCOIC approval.
According to JBSA procedures, in order to enter any JBSA location, all sponsors must complete and submit the JBSANANTONIO Form 7, Unescorted Access Request (UAR) to sponsor visitors onto the installation. This document is an “all-in-one” request.
To download the Unescorted Access Request form, right-click HERE, go down the menu to “Save link as …” and then save to YOUR computer. From there, open the document on your computer in either Acrobat or Acrobat Reader, fill it out, and then save it. Finally, email it to the VC at Lackland.VRC@us.af.mil via a government email account.
If you are unable to submit through government email, you may request visitor access in person. Pass requests may be made 6 months in advance, depending on the need for access.

What if my military ID card is expired or going to expire? A: Civilians, dependents, and active-duty members need to be fully aware of their ID’s expiration date and schedule renewal appointments prior to its termination date.
Expired CAC and or dependent ID cards will be confiscated by Security Forces and the person will be issued a Confiscated Identification Card Memo. Active duty members, retirees and their dependents (16 years or older), civil service and contract employees who have expired Common Access Cards (CAC) or Identification cards can obtain an access credential by completing the following steps: 1. Provide the Visitor Control Center with the Confiscated Identification Card Memo along with a valid sponsor present. 2. Schedule an appointment with the ID card section through RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler at https://rapids-appointments.dmdc.osd.mil/. 3. Must have two forms of valid ID and one must have a photo, not including the Confiscated Identification Card Memo. 4. Dependents must have the Sponsor complete DD Form 1172 online and the electronic renewal application or attached copy; the sponsor must certify DD Form 1172 with an electronic signature. To fill out the DD Form 1172, access the DMDC website at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/self_service/rapids/unauthenticated?execution=e2s1 or by clicking on the "Online Form 1172" on the JBSA Customer Support website. 5. For more information, contact the nearest DEERS office at any JBSA location.
How can I sponsor someone on to JBSA?
Unescorted Installation Access Procedures: There are two ways to provide unescorted access to JBSA

Q: What is the required time to submit an access request form? A: Access request forms need to be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the day of the request.
Q: If my guest is from a foreign country, can they be sponsored onto JBSA? A: Yes, foreign visitors can be sponsored on to JBSA. All foreign visitors will need to be processed through one of the Visitor Control Centers.
Q: If my guest has a criminal history, are they authorized on to JBSA? A: JBSA has a Negative Fitness Matrix that can be found on the JBSA.mil website that will outline types of offenses and the duration of time required of denial for access to the installation.
Q: What documentation is required for my vehicle if driving on to the installation? A: Current proof of insurance and current registration.
Q: What is the Sponsor Responsibility and Liability? A: The sponsor is responsible for providing the required information, in the proper format for their visitors requesting unescorted access to the Visitor Control Center: -- Responsible for submitting the Unescorted Access Request form. -- Liable for the actions of their visitors while on the installation
Q: Who can sponsor onto JBSA? A: Military members on official orders, CAC/PIV holders, military retirees, and dependents are authorized to sponsor individuals on to an installation they are affiliated with or assigned for the duration of their Temporary Assigned Duty or Active Duty orders.
Q: Will there be a criminal background history check done on the person requiring installation access? A: Background criminal history checks are mandated for all unescorted personnel requesting or requiring access to JBSA who are 18 years of age and older.
Q: What if I want to hold a special event on the installation with more than 10 people? A: Hosting a large function (10 or more visitors) requires submission of a JBSANANTONIO Form 7, Unescorted Access Request, to the Visitor Control Center of the base where the event is being conducted. The host or sponsor must e-mail an encrypted message within 10 business days of the event, via a government e-mail or hand-carry a typed list.

Personnel must notify the entry controller that they have a privately owned weapon and where they intend on transporting it. All residents living in government-owned facilities or contracted housing must register privately-owned firearms with the 802nd Security Forces Squadron. Privately-owned firearms requiring registration include any item capable of firing a projectile excluding pellet and airsoft guns.
New arrivals to JBSA-Lackland base housing facilities with privately-owned firearms have 72 hours to register at Pass and Registration, building 5616 or they will be in violation of JBSA-Lackland Instruction 31-101, Installation Security Program, which can result in an Article 92 charge. In addition to registration, privately-owned firearms stored in base housing residences are required to be in a locked storage or the firearm must be equipped with a tamper-resistant mechanical lock or another safety device.
Up to five firearms can be registered on Department of Defense Form 2760 (Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition) and Air Force Form 1314 (Firearms Registration), which must be signed by the Airman's commander. The forms are processed at Pass and Registration, and available at www.e-publishing.af.mil.
Airmen who out process or dispose of registered privately-owned firearms are required to remove those items from the Security Forces Management Information System at Pass and Registration. Removal of privately owned firearms stored at the Security Forces armory by Airmen must be coordinated with armory personnel.

Privately Owned Firearms (POFs) Guidance, can be found in Joint Base San Antonio Instruction (JBSANANTONIOI 31-1131, Chapter 4) Carry of POFs: The open or concealed carry of privately-owned weapons/firearms on JBSA owned, rented or leased property is strictly prohibited unless approved under the provisions identified within this instruction.
Law Enforcement Officer’s Safety Act (LEOSA): The 502nd Air Base Wing commander authorizes military/DAF Civilian employees who are credentialed under the prerequisites of the federal LEOSA and currently assigned or employed by the 502nd Security Forces Group (502nd SFG), to carry a concealed Privately Owned Firearm (POF)
Transporting POFs by authorized personnel: While on Joint Base San Antonio, to include any leased property, POFs will not leave the vehicle at any time, unless transporting to the appropriate Security Forces Armory. POFs must be stored in a locked container and be holstered out of plain view in the secured (locked) vehicle.
Housing Residence and POF: Registration of POFs is MANDATORY for Military Family Housing (MFH) Residents. Approved JBSA housing residents are only authorized to transit in a concealed carry configuration directly to and from installation entry control points and their JBSA residence. MFH Residents in possession of POFs must complete a DD Form 2760,
Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition, upon initial POF registration: The AF Form 1314 will be used to register up to five weapons/firearms per individual. Additional AF Form 1314 may be used to register additional firearms. Forms and registration information can be obtained from the Security Forces issuing office. The AF Form 1314 and DD Form 2760 will be completed and turned into their servicing SFS Registration Unit. Once approved documents are received by the SFS unit, copies will be submitted to the local Military Housing Office and Leasing Agent by the resident.
Dormitory Residents: Airmen residing in JBSA dormitories WILL NOT store firearms in their rooms or their POVs. Firearms must be stored in the servicing SF armory or Army Arms storage areas. Dormitory residents are only authorized to transit directly to and from installation entry control points and the SFS armory or Army unit armory (where approved).
TDY/Temporary Lodging/FAMCAMP: Members TDY to JBSA Installations, individuals residing in lodging or Temporary Living Facilities (TLFs), private contractors, FAMCAMP occupants and visitors are prohibited from storing weapons in their vehicles, TLF or any other lodging facilities. The local servicing SFS Armory or Army Arms storage area is the mandated storage repository for these firearms. Temporary Lodging guests, FAMCAMP occupants are only authorized to transit directly to and from installation entry control points and the SFS armory or Army unit armory (where approved).
Prohibited Weapons and Firearms: -- Switchblade knives, knives five (5) inches or longer or knives with any automatic blade release (unless military duty issued) and swords (excluding those for decorative displays). -- Any incendiary/explosive weapon (e.g., grenades, flashbangs). -- Fireworks, except as authorized by approved contractors during organized/sanctioned JBSA events. -- Suppressors and or silencers. Any device designed, made, or adapted to muffle the report of a firearm. -- Short barrel rifle (SBR – a rifle with a barrel less than 16 inches and overall length less than 26 inches), short barrel shotgun (SBS – a shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches and overall length less than 26 inches), any other weapon (AOW) or destructive device (DD). -- Homemade mortars, also known as “tennis ball launchers,” “potato guns” or similar devices. -- Machine guns, which is any weapon capable of full-automatic fire. -- Club(s) specifically designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by striking a person with the instrument. These devices include but are not limited to blackjacks; nightsticks or tomahawks.
