JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Caisson Team dedicates horse in Sergeant Major of the Army's name
June 25, 2019 — Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston is home to one of only two caisson teams in the Army, which perform a valuable role conducting military funerals at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery every year. December 10, 2018 — When the Department of Homeland Security requested the Department of Defense to provide a range of assistance to secure the border from Texas to California, the 543rd Engineer Detachment, U.S. Army North, began their part of the border support mission by analyzing maps and refining data to paint a picture of the operating areas for commanders and decision-makers to better visualize their areas of operations... Army North commander among leaders stressing cohesion during Hurricane Michael relief efforts
October 12, 2018 — The devastation and unpredictable damage of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico last year caused Army leaders to take a hard look at relief effort procedures. Hurricane response became a timely topic as Hurricane Michael made landfall on the Florida Panhandle Oct. 10. U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers from the 277th Engineer Company based out of San Antonio and the 7235th Medical Support Unit based out of Orlando, Florida, had planned alongside partners with U.S. Army North, the Texas A&M Colonias program and Hidalgo county for nearly a year in preparation for their upcoming missions in the lower Texas region... Approximately 50 U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers assigned to the 7235th Medical Support Unit out of Orlando, Texas, worked in partnership with the Texas A&M Colonias program June 16-27 to provide medical care to Hidalgo County's underserved colonia population. Services provided by military personnel are done through the Department of Defense's Innovative Readiness Training, a civil-military program that builds mutually beneficial partnerships between U.S. communities and the DOD. The missions selected meet training & readiness requirements for Army Reserve service members while integrating them as a joint and whole-of-society team to serve our American citizens.
