Joint Base San Antonio honors the 'Greatest Generation'

Brig. Gen. The ceremony was hosted by the FSH Survivor Outreach Services Support Program in partnership with the FSH Gold Star Families as a way to honor the WWII veterans who were unable to travel to France for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.

Troxell, senior enlisted advisor to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, held a Senior Noncommissioned Officer forum during his visit to U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) July 17.Troxell's visit to Army North was his first stop while visiting service members throughout Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

The ROC Drill helped synchronize active duty military support efforts with federal, state, territorial and local partners to ensure seamless support in a hurricane response event.

JBSA-Fort Sam Houston leaders host second family housing town hall

This town hall provided an update for housing residents and new steps residents can utilize to help with issues in the future.

Joshua Rightenour, a member of the Caisson platoon, holds his reins. Rightenour said participating in military funerals is a “very humbling experience.” He added “everyone we do these services for served honorably. It’s just one little thing we can give back to them.”

Jeffrey Buchanan (second from left) was presented the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award at the Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council Brunch Feb. 13 in San Antonio. Buchanan, who attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1973, was presented this award for exceptionally distinguished service in his military career and to the community. The detachment began their part of the border support mission by analyzing maps and refining data to paint a picture of the operating areas for commanders and decision-makers to better visualize their areas of operations.

Disaster preparedness and unity of effort will be an Army priority, Army leaders said Oct. 9, 2018 during the annual AUSA meeting. With Hurricane Michael making landfall in Florida, Army leaders said they re-evaluated their response procedures after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico last year.

Army Reserve medical personnel improve readiness serving local communities

Kodjo Koukoua, an Army Reserve optical laboratory specialist assigned to 7252nd Medical Support Unit, is processing new eye prescriptions for eyeglass fabrication at Escontrias Early Childhood Center in Socorro, Texas. Koukoua is one of approximately 50 U.S. Army Reserve and U.S. Army Soldiers who are working in partnership with the Texas A&M Colonias program to provide medical care to El Paso County's underserved colonias population.

Spc. Launa Bailey, a combat medic, completes an eye screening for local residents waiting for medical services at Betty Harwell Middle School in Edinburg, Texas. Approximately 50 U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers assigned to the 7235th Medical Support Unit out of Orlando, Texas, worked in partnership with the Texas A&M Colonias program June 16-27 to provide medical care to Hidalgo County's underserved colonia population. Services provided by military personnel are done through the Department of Defense's Innovative Readiness Training, a civil-military program that builds mutually beneficial partnerships between U.S. communities and the DOD. The missions selected meet training & readiness requirements for Army Reserve service members while integrating them as a joint and whole-of-society team to serve our American citizens.
