Ernest Ibarra of San Antonio finds the name of Airman 1st Class Edward G. Muse engraved upon the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Tuesday at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. Muse was one of six security policemen killed in action during the Tet Offensive. Muse died Jan. 31, 1968 while defending Bien Hoa Air Base near Saigon. The base was assaulted by two North Vietnamese battalions. Although the base perimeter was breached in several places during the attack, primary defenders from the Air Force's 3rd Security Police Squadron were able to protect the heart of the base from ground attack until infantry reinforcements arrived at sun-up.
