JBSA air show now biennial event, AirFest set for late 2013

Joint Base San Antonio air shows will now take place every other year rather than annually.

Brig. Gen. Theresa C. Carter, Joint Base San Antonio commander, cites budgetary constraints within the Department of Defense and the Air
Force for the decision.

"Many bases host air shows on an infrequent basis, every two to three years, so we've been fortunate in the greater San Antonio area to enjoy
a show every year. Funding reductions prevent us from maintaining that pace but we are committed to hosting an event every other year," she said.

Air shows alternated between JBSA-Lackland and JBSA-Randolph annually, in conjunction with San Antonio's Celebrate America's Military
activities.

The 2011 JBSA air show was held Oct. 29-30 at JBSA-Randolph; the next air show is scheduled at JBSA-Lackland in late 2013. No date has been set.
