Ernest Ibarra of San Antonio finds the name of Airman 1st Class Edward G. Muse engraved upon the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Tuesday at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. Muse was one of six security policemen killed in action during the Tet Offensive. Muse died Jan. 31, 1968 while defending Bien Hoa Air Base near Saigon. The base was assaulted by two North Vietnamese battalions. Although the base perimeter was breached in several places during the attack, primary defenders from the Air Force's 3rd Security Police Squadron were able to protect the heart of the base from ground attack until infantry reinforcements arrived at sun-up. JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – The Wall That Heals, a traveling exhibit featuring a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., arrived here Tuesday.

On display adjacent to the U.S. Air Force Security Forces Museum, the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall was on display until Thursday.

Its arrival here coincided with the installation's commemoration of the 44th anniversary of the Tet Offensive and the unveiling of a Southeast Asia exhibit.

The new exhibit honors the contributions of those Security Police veterans who participated in the Viet Cong's offensive against U.S. forces.

Security forces were able to prevent the Viet Cong from over-running Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Bien Hoa AB and Military Assistance Command in Vietnam headquarters during the assault.
