Wilford Hall and Central Texas Veterans Health Care System join forces

U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. (Dr.) Mark Packer performs operative care and inspection on U.S. Army Specialist James Tillery at Wilford Hall Medical Center's Hearing Center of Excellence March 2, 2011, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Working to further the medical science, Dr. Packer is the director of the several Department of Defense-directed Centers of Excellence and is an Otolaryngologist. Specialist Tillery was injured by an improvised explosive device during a tour in Afghanistan. 560th Flying Training Squadron reunites Freedom Flyers

The tradition of honoring repatriated Vietnam War POW pilots continued at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, March 25 during the annual Freedom Flyer Reunion Symposium and wreath laying ceremony.  Airman First Class Laura Hall from Lackland Air Force Base’s Band of the West,  played “Taps” during the wreath laying ceremony.  For the 13th straight year, the symposium featured Freedom Flyers and the grim, but inspiring stories of their experiences in the POW camps in North Vietnam. The wreath-laying ceremony is held each year at the base’s Missing Man Monument, in honor of America’s military heroes who never made it home from war. (U.S. Air Force photo/Rich McFadden)
