RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Tx –
With summer upon us, more visitors are expected to visit Randolph Air Force Base, and base passes are a must for those without government-issued ID cards.
In order to make access easier, the Randolph Visitor Control Center is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday to issue base passes. The VCC is closed on all federal holidays and Air Education and Training Command family days. Local base access cards, including contractor and vendors will be processed Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Defense Biometric Identification System registration is available Monday through Friday until 10 p.m. On Saturdays, the VCC is open only for issuing base passes.
"Because of increased security measures, the extended hours should guarantee the best customer service possible for those requiring access to the base," Maj. Robert Ford, 902nd Security Forces Squadron commander, said. "Extra hours at the Visitor Control Center will alleviate some gate congestion and ensure that entry controllers are focused on gate security."
Anyone sponsoring a guest onto the base must be present at the VCC during hours of operations or can send an email to the visitor center at 902sfs.vrc@randolph.
af.mil. Guest pass requests must be sent from a government email account to verify authorization and to authenticate sponsor credentials. Passes can be requested up to 30 days in advance.
After hours, all sponsors must meet guests at the main gate to receive a pass.
Those who are 18 and older must present valid photo ID, including any state-issued license or ID, passport or school ID, prior to receiving a base pass. For guests who will be driving, a current valid state driver's license and proof of insurance are required.
Entry authority lists are used for any event occurring on Randolph AFB that requires six or more individuals who would normally require a pass to access the base.
The guest list must be typed and provided to the VCC no later than close of business, three duty days prior to the event. If an event is on Sunday, the list is due no later than the end of the day Wednesday. The EAL cover sheet provided by the VCC must be completed and signed by a member with a valid military ID card.
It must contain each person's name, date of birth and, if over the age of 18, a driver's license/ID number or passport number. If insufficient information is provided, the base pass will be issued at the main gate or visitor center. Once the cover sheet and list of participants is complete, the information must be delivered to the VCC or sent via email. If emailed, the subject line should state "EAL."
"It is our goal to process all EAL requests and pass requests in a timely manner," Major Ford said. "These measures should ensure that security measures are met and visitors are allowed on base in a speedy manner."
