Public Health Command NCO Receives Order of Military Medical Merit

During a ceremony at the Army Medical Department museum Spt. 14, retired Maj. Gen. Patrick Sculley, president of the museum foundation’s board of directors, presented Order of Military Medical Merit medallion to Master Sgt. Daniel Watford, who was recognized for managing health and well-being operations in Afghanistan. Watford, currently serves as the for Public Health Command Region South chief operations NCO, was recognized for his contributions in training NCOs to lead by example and preparing Soldiers for medical operations and ensuring their preparedness to go to war. The Order of Military Medical Merit is a unique organization founded in 1982 by retired Maj. Gen Bill Lefler, former commanding general of the Army Health Services Command – which is now the U.S. Army Medical Command – to recognize distinguished service by military and civilian members of the Army Medical Department. Two fallen Navy corpsmen were honored during a memorial ceremony at the Medical Education and Training Campus Sept. 20. Hospital Corpsman First Class Darrel Enos and Hospital Corpsman Third Class Clayton Beauchamp were remembered by a gathering of METC and Navy senior leadership, staff and students of the Basic Medical Technician Corpsman Training Program, METC’s combined Navy corpsman and Air Force medical technician schoolhouse, and members of the American Association of Navy Corpsmen. Beauchamp’s brother, Hospital Corpsman Second Class Christopher Beauchamp, attended the ceremony from the Naval Branch Health Clinic, Fort Worth, Texas, and delivered remarks about his brother during the ceremony.
