Air Force Reaches EPIC Milestone

JBSA Police Week kicks off May 15

The 2017 National Police Week at Joint Base San Antonio kicks off May 15 and will run until May 19. JBSA is taking part in National Police Week, which was established by a joint resolution of Congress in October 1962. It occurs annually during the week in which May 15 falls.  National Police Week recognizes the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement members and pays special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Army Surgeon General speaks at professional development sessions

Lt. Gen. Nadja Y.West, U.S. Army Surgeon General and commanding general, U.S. Army Medical Command, and MEDCOM Command Sergeant Major Gerald C. Ecker, addressed Army Medical Department Center & School Soldiers attending the Captain Career Course and Non Commissioned Officers Academy at professional development sessions at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston  April 19. West opened the session by taking questions and engaging in a discussion. Soldiers asked a broad range of questions about training, readiness and leadership. The surgeon general emphasized the importance of Army Medicine in operational planning and exercises and the critical role of maintaining readiness.

Clyde Balsley, center, stands next to his Nieuport 11 (nickname bébé). With his personal marking of a white star, it was camouflaged with standard brown and green upper surface and natural under surface. It was capable of flying 97 miles per hour. Armament was one fixed forward firing Lewis machine gun mounted in the top wing to fire over the propeller.
