Glen Moore (right), deputy commanding general, Army National Guard, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, speaks with Army students in the combat medic training program at the Medical Education and Training Campus at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston April 14. Moore observed the students as they trained in the Combat Trauma Patient Simulator, a simulation lab that provides a realistic type of training experience for students learning how to treat trauma wounds on casualties in a combat environment. About half of the students in the combat medic training program are in the National Guard or Army Reserve.

Army Medical Command training program teaches patient calming skills

Military medical professionals practice de-escalation and therapeutic containment techniques, known as Prevention and Management of Disrupted Behavior-Military, during a training session April 13 at the U.S. Army Medical Department Center and School. The session was part of a week-long training program for military medical professionals, who learned skills that will help them calm and settle down patients in crisis at military treatment facilities.
