First Space Cyber Challenge held by 707th Communication Squadron warriors

Boss Lift provides sky-high look at Alamo Wing mission

Twenty-eight civilian employers of 433rd Airlift Wing Citizen Airmen were provided an opportunity June 10, 2017 to experience the Alamo Wing’s mission from the sky in a C-5M Super Galaxy as a part of a local Boss Lift. The event, which was sponsored by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, promotes cooperation and understanding between Reserve component service members and their civilian employers. Summer heat dangerous without proper caution

The WBGT index is a heat stress indicator used to gauge the relative severity of environmental temperature on the human body by measuring humidity, wind speed, and sunlight and then compositing the information into an actual temperature experienced by personnel. 
The index consists of five color-coded categories with associated temperature information derived from the WGBT and specifies fluid intake requirements and work allowed. Flags with corresponding colors are flown to indicate current heat and work conditions.

New potential approach to traumatic brain injuries assessment, treatment

Howard, Ph.D., a general health scientist and epidemiologist at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research and primary investigator at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, uses a transcranial Doppler technology called the Neurovascular Complexity Index to evaluate a new algorithm that measures cerebral blood flow velocity.

MICC Soldier perseveres at Army Contracting Command Best Warrior competition

Fellow competitors, sponsor and cadre motivate Staff Sgt. Floore was one of seven Soldiers from throughout the command vying for the best warrior title over five days of competition and right to represent ACC at the Army Materiel Command level in July. The competition included several events aimed at testing the tactical skills of contracting NCOs in the 51-Charlie military occupational specialty. Floore is a contract specialist with the 410th Contracting Support Brigade at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston.

Shedding ‘male mask’ difficult for male victims of sexual assault

Sexual assault is an offense typically associated with female victims, but men can also fall prey to these brutal attacks. The Department of Defense Annual Report on Sexual Assault in the Military for Fiscal Year 2016 showed male victims made about 20 percent of the 6,172 reports of sexual assault during the time period of Oct. 1, 2015-Sept. 30, 2016.
