The MEDRET is part of U.S. Army South-led Beyond the Horizon exercise lasting May 12 through August 4. The exercise involves about 1,800 Soldiers of all components, part of Combined Joint Task Force Hope and includes MEDRETS and construction of schools and a clinic addition.

Army South, Central American militaries work to improve regional security

U.S. Army South hosted the Central America (CENTAM) Regional Working Group, at U.S. Army South headquarters at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston March 20-22. Senior leaders from partner nations in Central America, participated in the premier engagement between Army South staff and CENTAM senior intelligence and operations officers. Held annually, the meeting promotes mutual security interests and interoperability.

The conference was hosted by Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army Gen. Mark A. Milley and was attended by 20-member nations, five observer nations and three international organization members.

Army South takes part in first international engineer workshop held in Colombia

Brennan Wallace, Assistant Chief of Staff Engineer, U.S. Army South, spoke at the first International Technical Workshop of Military Engineering Oct. 21, hosted by the Colombian Army Engineers in Bogota, Colombia, at the Military School General Jose' Maria Cordova. Wallace spoke to the cadets and university students about military and civilian engineers’ roles to country infrastructure development and disaster relief missions.

The aerial footage was used by the Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative to determine if there was a disruption of power to residents in the area.
