Local select basketball team captures national title
August 31, 2017 — The South Texas Regulators Select basketball team, a team based out of the San Antonio area comprised of boys whose parents are currently serving in the military or retired from the services, won the 16U Bigfoot Hoops Las Vegas Classic in Nevada July 30. August 29, 2017 — Task Force 51, U.S. Army North (Fifth Army), Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston is deploying to Kelly Annex, next to JBSA-Lackland, to provide command and control of Title 10 assets, which will also provide support to civil authority... MORE

Matt Hopper, a telecommunications specialist for Task Force 51, Army North (Fifth Army), Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, conducts a vehicle inspection Aug. 28 of the sentinel mobile communication platform in preparation to provide support to civil authority in Houston from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The sentinel can push information to customers within 15 to 30 minutes of arrival and fully set up within a few hours. TF-51 is deploying to Kelly Annex next to JBSA-Lackland to provide command and control over Title 10 assets, which will also provide support to civil authority. The mission of TF-51 is Army North’s contingency command post to conduct support for Defense Support of Civil Authority, or DSCA, homeland defense and theater security cooperation in order to promote the defense and security of the United States.

The facility’s capabilities include state-of-the-art technologies designed to be used for rehabilitation, research, education and training. CFI maintains the military’s readiness by providing care, treatment and training to assist service members with rehabilitation to maximize their potential and reintegrate them back to the force.

Corpsman to chaplain: one Sailor’s journey

Ensign Charles Wilton was Petty Officer 1st Class Wilton before receiving his commission during the ceremony. U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) welcomed Brig. Gen. Richard C. Kim and his family to Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston at a welcoming ceremony held at the historic quadrangle July 27. Kim assumes responsibility as the deputy commanding general and director of operations for Army North. He most recently served as the deputy director, program analysis and evaluation, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, Washington, D.C. The ARNORTH DCG is the eyes and ears for the commanding general and as the director of operations, is responsibility for daily and future operations and exercises. Lt. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan welcomed the Kims to the Fifth Army family and said Kim possess all the qualities to accomplish the Army North mission.
