Local chamber members learn of JBSA growth, future plans

Brig. Gen. Laura L. Lenderman, commander of the 502nd Air Base Wing and Joint Base San Antonio hosted 16 members of local Chambers of Commerce from cities located near JBSA installations during its first chamber summit at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston on June 4. Chamber members were told about of the future growth of JBSA, to include more than 800 new people this year and how this will affect JBSA and the surrounding communities. This growth will mean new challenges, but also new opportunities, ranging from infrastructure to community initiatives.

Law enforcement officials share perspectives on opioid crisis at JBSA forum

SERE training detachment gains new commander

Installation Health Assessment goes live in the cloud

The status of Air Force installation and mission support programs is now just a click away, thanks to the new Installation Health Assessment tool’s cloud analytics capability. The IHA tool can help assess the overall health of various installation and mission support program areas across major commands. This displays performance, funding and risk with trendlines and base reports. Areas indicated in gray are still under development.

Beads of Courage mark milestones during a child’s medical treatment at BAMC

Air Force Basic Military Training continues to fine-tune program with major modernizations

Brig. Gen. George Appenzeller, BAMC commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. James Brown present Shirley Adcock with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award May 30 for her more than 12,000 service hours at Brooke Army Medical Center. Adcock has volunteered as a tour guide, a ward listener and, currently, as a greeter for the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research Burn Center intensive care unit.

National Guard 'ready' as 2019 hurricane season kicks off

JBSA-Fort Sam Houston's North New Braunfels Gate closed June 6-9

The North New Braunfels Avenue Entry Control Point at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston will be closed, depending on weather, for approximately three days from Thursday, June 6, to Sunday, June 9, for ballistic gate installation. During these temporary closures, the Wilson Gate will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
