433rd Civil Engineer Squadron welcomes new commander

By Master Sgt. Kristian Carter 433rd Airlfit Wing Public Affairs

Maj. Nathan M. Leuthold relinquished command of the 433rd Civil Engineer Squadron to Maj. Jaime L. “Leigh” Barker at the 433rd Airlift Wing auditorium during a change of command ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland June 1.

Lt. Col. James A. Hearn III, 433rd Mission Support Group deputy commander, who officiated the ceremony, spoke to the audience about Leuthold and Barker prior to the transfer of command.

“Maj. Barker is the perfect candidate to follow Maj. Leuthold,” Hearn said. “She’s a shrewd officer, an established project manager, extremely detailed oriented and by all accounts an outstanding officer. I know the squadron hit the proverbial commander’s lottery win in going from one great officer to another.”

After the transfer of command, Barker said a few words.

“To the Airmen of the 433rd Civil Engineer Squadron, I am extremely grateful to be coming back and joining the CE team,” Barker said. “I look forward to what the future will bring and all of the amazing things we are going to accomplish together.”
