MEDCOM establishes Housing Environmental Health Response Registry

The U.S. Army Medical Command has established a Housing Environmental Health Response Registry to address Army Family concerns about housing and related health issues. The registry’s telephone numbersare 1-800-984-8523, DSN 421-3700 or 210-295-3700.

Housing executives, Army leaders discuss plan of action

Army leaders ask a military family to respond to a survey as part of an Army-wide effort to resolve inadequate housing on installations. Army senior leaders introduced an action plan that outlines steps to remedy military housing issues to the Senate Armed Services Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., March 7.

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Sherif and Brig. Gen. Hala Ahmed of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, along with members of their staffs, are briefed by Lt. Col. In April 2019, Maxwell Air Force Base announced two beta courses, called Officer Training School-Accelerated Commissioning Program, that will shorten OTS from 40 training days to 14 training days for selected senior NCOs.

Physician Assistants help medical personnel hone battlefield skills

Instructors from the Tactical Combat Medical Care Course, or TCMCC, reenact a trauma scenario consisting of two segments - Care Under Fire and Tactical Field Care. The course is geared toward medical doctors, physician's assistants, nurses and senior medics in preparation for deployment to hostile environments. TCMCC prepares students for potential injuries and wounds they might encounter on the battlefield. The intense 5-day course is offered several times a year and is held at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston and JBSA-Camp Bullis.

FDA issues voluntary drug recall alert for Fentanyl

On April 19, the Food and Drug Administration announced a voluntary recall of a small number of cartons labeled Fentanyl 12 mcg/h Transdermal System patches. Fentanyl is used to manage pain for patients who can tolerate opioids. The recalled cartons contained 50 mcg/h patches instead of 12 mcg/h patches
