Vietnam War veteran medics, who served with Company C, 23rd Medical Battalion, Americal Division, and their spouses visiting Fort Sam Houston Sept. 12, received a hero’s welcome from Soldier medics who lined each side of the entrance to MacArthur Parade Pavilion waving U.S. flags and applauding as the veterans entered the pavilion.

Motorists encouraged to drive defensively, use patience in Washington Circle

Base safety ans security officials want people to be aware of the procedures for driving in and out of Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph's Washington Circle.
Officials want to ensure motorists know which lanes they should be in when entering and exiting the circle.
The biggest safety issue occurs when vehicles try to directly exit the circle from the left lane instead of moving to the right lane in advance of their exit turn. Officials urge people to drive defensively and sue caution in and around Washington Circle.

Triathlon provides challenge for fitness center patrons

Doug Owens, Army Medical Center Animal Health Brach chief, races down a hill of the 22-mile cycling portion of the annual Rambler 120 competition Sept. 19, 2015, at Joint Base San Antonio Recreation Park at Canyon Lake. 2015 5K RUN FOR LIFE AT JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO

Brig. Gen. Bob LaBrutta, 502nd Air Base Wing and Joint Base San Antonio commander, and 502nd ABW Command Chief Stanley Cadell (center), were joined by hundreds of military members, civilian personnel and family members, as they run down Stanley Road during the 2015 5K Run For Life at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Sunday. Another run took place at Eberle Park on JBSA-Randolph Saturday and the final run is at the Gillum Fitness Center on JBSA-Lackland, with free registration at 7 a.m. and the run beginning at 8 a.m. Sept. 26. The events promote awareness of the resources available to assist service members and their families with fitness, resiliency and suicide prevention. The top three male and female runners will win awards and all participants receive an “I Run For Life” reflective belt and finisher’s dog tag, while supplies last.
