Push button enhances safety, meets codes at service station

An emergency fuel shutoff push-button switch is now in operation at the Air Force service station on the east side of Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph. The red push-button switch enhances safety at the JBSA-Randolph service station and enables the facility to meet current electrical safety code requirements, its location is central to the islands and the distance is no closer than 25 feet as required. “EFSO push-button stations are required near tanks, tank car and tank truck loading and off-loading areas, refueler truck fill stands, aircraft direct fueling stations, pumps and fuel piers,” said Mokhtar Gaballa, 802nd Civil Engineer Squadron electrical engineer.

Fire Department Open House highlights prevention week

Firefighters from Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph extinguish a fire during training April 11, 2018 at the Camp Talon fire training grounds on JBSA-Randolph. The training takes place quarterly and offers an opportunity for new firefighters to become more confident while fighting fires, but it also gives seasoned Airmen a chance to sharpen their skills and get a head start to the next step in their careers.

BASH Program promotes aviator, community safety at JBSA-Randolph

In an ongoing effort to reduce airfield obstructions at JBSA-Randolph, the Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard team has an approved plan for the pruning and removal of selected trees at JBSA-Randolph. Trees that impose a significant risk to aviators, and the families they fly over, will be modified to improve aviator and community safety.

JBSA activates webpage to disseminate most current mold mitigation information

The 502nd Air Base Wing has activated a new page on their website to address mold concerns at JBSA. Here, residents can find information on what to do if mold has damaged their property, background information on the issue and what the command is doing to remediate the matter.
