Army South Soldiers hold coat drive for local elementary school

The Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, U.S. Army South at Joint base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston held a coat drive from Jan. 8 to Feb. 1, for the students of Booker T. Washington Elementary School in San Antonio. The school and battalion are partnered through the Adopt-a-School program.

Units on JBSA-Fort Sam Houston are partnered with schools with the Northeast Independent School District, the San Antonio Independent School District and the Fort Sam Houston Independent School District.

Throughout the year, Soldiers partner with their designated school and provide mentorship to students as well as assist with career days, field trips and many other activities.
