March 12, 2018 — The Jimmy Brought Fitness Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston was buzzing with activity Feb 3 as weights were clanging, elliptical machines were churning, music was blaring, and patrons seemed to be keeping their New Year’s resolution to take care of their bodies. There was also a distinct group of 40 active duty service members, wounded warriors, veterans and family members who commandeered some space in the gym to learn the intricacies of walking cane self-defense. ... Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center sent the banner as a show of support to BAMC after the Sutherland Springs shooting Nov. 5, 2017. Sunrise Hospital treated more than 200 injured in the Las Vegas shooting last October. BAMC, which treated eight victims from Sutherland Springs, plans to rotate the banner throughout the hospital in the coming months to share the banner, which is filled with well-wishes and messages of hope and support.
