Career assistance advisors focused on JBSA members’ professional future

Ruck march spanning 11 days, 830 miles, honors fallen special tactics Airmen

Hundreds of Special Tactics (ST) Airmen and Special Warfare trainees gathered early morning to begin an 830-mile ruck march across five states in tribute to U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Dylan J. Elchin, along with 19 other ST Airmen, who have been killed in action since 9/11, Feb. 22, 2019, at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Medina Annex.

JBSA conducts severe weather, natural disaster response exercise

The 502nd Air Base Wing will conduct a severe weather exercise from Feb. 20-26, consisting of exercise weather messages and a full-scale natural disaster response exercise, or NDRE, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 27 throughout Joint Base San Antonio.

JBSA gates scheduled for construction

Throughout Joint Base San Antonio, installation entry control points, otherwise known as the base gates, will undergo multiple construction projects starting November 2018. These necessary construction projects will enhance force protection capability across JBSA, and when complete, will enhance the safety and security of our workforce, family and visitors.

JBSA civilian’s ingenuity saves the Air Force money

Thanks to Brian Spalinger, an employee at the 502nd Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle management flight at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, approximately 60 headlight assembly sets have been refurbished instead of replaced since May 2018, saving the Air Force an estimated $28,000. Instead of ordering new headlights assemblies that costs the Air Force approximately $418, Spalinger refurbishes the damaged headlights which not only saves the Air Force money, but it allows the vehicle to be returned to customer at a faster rate.
