Build-A-Backpack drive provides backpacks for more than 1,400 JBSA schoolchildren

Nita-Ford Hightower (left) and Quiana Abner (right), Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston Military Child Education Program school liaison officers, sort through donated backpacks filled with school supplies collected through the eighth annual Build-A-Backpack Program drive Aug. 9. The program, sponsored by the JBSA Military Child Education Program-School Liaison Office, provides backpacks and school supplies for schoolchildren of military families, including active duty and wounded service members and Guard and Reserve personnel. This year, the program provided backpacks for 1,420 JBSA schoolchildren.

The team is open to all active duty, Reserve, government civilians and dependents with any affiliation to JBSA. The team is open to all services and all genders. The best 24 best players will be selected, regardless of service, gender, etc. to field the best team possible.
