James Miller, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston Sept. 24. The Soldier’s Medal recognizes acts of heroism during a non-combat situation... MORE

Maj. Gen. David P. Glaser, U.S. Army North Deputy Commanding General-Operations, presented the Soldier’s Medal to Sgt. James Miller, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, at Fort Sam Houston Sept. 24. Miller was recognized with the Soldier’s Medal for selflessly pulling a woman from a burning vehicle in May 2017. Maj. Gen. Glaser was the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command Commander when the award started processing and was honored to present the medal.

Army celebrates 244th birthday at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston
June 18, 2019 — Cadences echoed across Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston as 2,000 Soldiers celebrated the 244th Army Birthday with an Army run, early on June 13. Joining the Soldiers in a 3 1/2-mile run were Airmen from across JBSA, as well as civilians, friends and family members. At the conclusion of the run, the oldest and youngest Soldiers present, Col. William Bruce, deputy director for Dental Directorate G-3/5/7, and Spc. Dazhir Walker, a musician with the 323rd Army Band "Fort Sam's Own," joined Lt. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, commanding general, U.S. Army North (Fifth Army), and ARNORTH Command Sgt. Maj. Alberto Delgado in the cake cutting ceremony. 543rd Engineer Detachment geospatial engineers paint a picture for border mission
December 10, 2018 — When the Department of Homeland Security requested the Department of Defense to provide a range of assistance to secure the border from Texas to California, the 543rd Engineer Detachment, U.S. Army North, began their part of the border support mission by analyzing maps and refining data to paint a picture of the operating areas for commanders and decision-makers to better visualize their areas of operations... Staff Sgt. Fred Garcia, a U.S. Army telephone and telegraph line chief who fought in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions during the Battle of Rapido River in Italy, was honored during a building memorialization ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston Sept. 7. Garcia was a San Antonio native and a direct descendent of the Padron family, one of the original 16 families who founded the city. Lt. Gen.
