Air Force Day at the Alamo celebrated April 22

502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Join us for Fiesta's service-specific days at the Alamo! Come out and enjoy the upcoming Air Force Day at the Alamo celebration on April 22 from 11 a.m. to noon at Alamo Plaza in downtown San Antonio.

The family-friendly event is free and open to the public and will feature displays and exhibits, along with demonstrations and performances by members of AETC units stationed here. Attendees will see demonstrations from the Military Working Dogs and handlers and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal members.

Also performing will be the United States Air Force Band of the West and the John Paul Stevens High School Air Force Junior ROTC Drill team.

The event is held each year during Fiesta and offers both San Antonio community members and tourists who’ve traveled from across the globe, a closer look at various Air Force specialties and celebrates the Air Force's enduring partnership with Military City USA community members.

Fiesta celebrations date back to 1891 when horse-drawn carriages circled Alamo Plaza, and participants pelted each other with flowers. Today, Fiesta San Antonio has grown into an 11-day celebration of diverse heritage, cultures and traditions.

Military dress is short-sleeved blues, open collar, flight cap, or UOD. Civilian dress is Fiesta casual.

Busses will pick up passengers at 10:30 a.m. at the Gateway Club parking lot at JBSA-Lackland, the Kendrick Club parking lot at JBSA-Randolph, and the Commissary parking lot at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston.

Later in the day, join us for the Pilgrimage to the Alamo at 3:30 p.m., starting from the Veterans Memorial near the Tobin Center to Alamo Plaza.
