Golden experience: Program teaches students how to work

Julian Ibarra, a 10th grader at Stacey High School on Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, works at the fry machine at an area McDonald's restaurant on June 6 as part of the free 10th annual Camp Mickey D's program. According the press release, the weeklong camp teaches students how to turn their academic learning into job success by allowing the students hand-on, practical experience in the workplace. The camp emphasizes concepts such as teamwork, hospitality, safety in the workplace, problem solving, business profitability, cleanliness, sanitation and food safety measures.
