WHASC Pediatric Clinic keeps basic trainee pipeline moving

Capt. Navy Recruiting District San Antonio hosts Texas educators, counselors in San Diego

Central and South Texas educators and counselors, along with support personnel from Navy Recruiting District San Antonio, toured the Freedom-class littoral combat ship, USS FORT WORTH (LCS 3) during the NRD’s annual Educator Orientation Visit July 11. The EOV is a Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) program with a main focus of showing educators the various facets of America’s Navy and the many career paths available to students.

149th Fighter Wings hosts F-16 Senior Officer Course for AFNORTH commander

The four-week course, designed to requalify experienced F-16 fighter pilots, focused on advanced handling characteristics, tactical formation and instrument-flying procedures. He also regained his air-air refueling currency during the course along with flying basic fighter maneuvers. He was required to requalify in the fighter jet based on his roles and responsibilities as the CONR-1 AF (AFNORTH) commander.

DOD delays Post 9/11 GI Bill changes

The Department of Defense delayed an issued change in policy regarding service members transferring their Post-9/11 GI Bill educational benefits. Implementation has been delayed until January 12, 2020, giving long-serving members more time to transfer their education benefits to spouses or dependents.

Fort Sam Houston ISD holds public meeting to discuss budget

The Fort Sam Houston Independent School District will hold a public meeting at 11:30 a.m. July 31 at the Professional Development Center located at 1908 Winans Road, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the school district’s budget.
