Chaplains hosts summit in San Antonio

Tamica Hales, 502nd Air Base Wing superintendent of chapel operations, is awarded the 2016 Gerald Cullins Award for the best chaplain's assistant in the Air Force, noncomissioned officer category, March 29, 2017, at the Air Force Chaplains Annual Award ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in San Antonio. The ceremony was part of a three-day chaplains corps conference, which included days of presentations from leaders in the field of divinity, science and psychology. Air Show and Open House coming to JBSA

Visitors look at static aircraft displays during the Joint Base San Antonio Air Show and Open House Oct. 31, 2015, at JBSA-Randolph, Texas. In addition to static aircraft displays the air show featured aerial demonstrations of  World War II fighters and bombers, the Thunderbirds and gave visitors the chance to meet and interact with today’s Airmen.

AETC Spirit of Hope award winner driven by passion for volunteerism

An Airman models one of the first uniforms designated for women who joined the Air Force in 1948 during a living history fashion show Oct. 7, 2016, at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland’s Gateway Club. JBSA-Lackland hosted a reunion of the Women in the Air Force, a term for women who joined the Air Force between the years of 1949-1976. The WAF was founded in 1948 out of the Women’s Armed Service Integration Act, which enabled tens of thousands of female service members to find jobs in the Air Force. In 1976 women were accepted into the service on an equal basis with men.
