Third T-7A Red Hawk arrives at JBSA-Randolph to accelerate pilot training
A T-7A Red Hawk arrives at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, Aug. 25, 2026. The aircraft is the third T-7A delivered to JBSA-Randolph, where the 99th Flying Training Squadron is leading Air Education and Training Command’s integration of the Air Force’s next-generation advanced jet trainer. The T-7A will replace the T-38C Talon and is part of an integrated training system that combines advanced aircraft, high-fidelity ground-based training systems and modernized instruction to prepare future aviators for the demands of high-end combat. The addition of a third aircraft expands AETC’s capacity to develop instructor pilots, mature training operations and integrate the T-7A into the pilot training pipeline. The T-7A represents a key component of AETC’s effort to modernize training for speed and agility while developing Airmen prepared to generate combat airpower for the operational force.
