RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
The Randolph Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is providing free federal income tax return preparation to active duty servicemembers, retirees and family members who have a valid military ID card now through April 17.
Assistance is available by appointment only Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The center is located on the first floor of the Taj Mahal, Building 100.
In addition to the tax center, military members can obtain assistance directly through their individual units, most of which have a unit tax advisor. UTAs undergo formal tax training from the Internal Revenue Service and are ready to offer the same tax assistance available through the center. Active duty members should primarily use their UTA to file their returns.
Returns are filed electronically. To do so, the tax center needs the following information in order to complete the return:
· Valid military ID card
· Social Security cards for all names on tax return
· All W2s and 1099s received
· Social Security income forms
· Information regarding stocks, bonds, mortgages, other income, etc.
· Last year's tax return
· Bank account and routing number
In addition to the Tax office the following units also have tax representatives that can aid you in completing your tax return:
