Lackland celebrates Women’s History Month

On March 3, President Obama signed the 22nd proclamation recognizing March as National Women's History Month.

"Countless women have steered the course of our history, and their stories are ones of steadfast determination. From reaching for the ballot box to breaking barriers on athletic fields and battlefields, American women have stood resolute in the face of adversity and overcome obstacles to realize their full measure of success. Women's History Month is an opportunity for us to recognize the contributions women have made to our nation, and to honor those who blazed trails for women's empowerment and equality," the president said in the proclamation.

Every day, women at Lackland are walking in the footsteps of those who broke barriers and set the stage for women's equality. From turning civilians into warrior Airmen and serving on the explosive ordnance disposal team to training military working dogs and maintaining vital base communication infrastructure, women are key to ensuring the success of the Gateway to the Air Force.
