Mission Monday: Child & Youth Programs

Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center Public Affairs

It’s Mission Monday. Meet Marisol Miranda, Air Force Services Center Child Development and Youth Programs specialist.

Miranda supports the installation child and youth programs by providing specialized training on child and youth development, assisting with professional development conferences and helping collect significant data for senior Department of Defense leaders to determine future CYP initiatives.

We asked the Corpus Christi, Texas, native to tell us a little more about herself and her work for the Department of the Air Force.

What do you love about your job?
Helping professionals provide quality, safe and nurturing care for our military children and youth across the world. Caring for children and youth comes with some difficult challenges so I make it a priority to assist our installations as much as possible.

When it comes to your job, what keeps you motivated?
The positive feedback I receive from CYP professionals after supporting their needs. When I see our programs offering excellent care, I become inspired to help them reach future goals.

Why are you and your team important to the Air Force and Space Force enterprise and your customers?
I belong to an amazing team that goes above and beyond to support all DAF child and youth programs. Our team continuously offers expertise and guidance on programs that assist 74 installations in serving our great military community.

Describe a project or event you and your team worked on recently that gave you a great sense of accomplishment:
This past year our team successfully offered multiple professional development training opportunities to over 300 DAF professionals with CYP services around the world.

How does what you do support AFIMSC’s strategic priorities?
With the help of my teammates, together we’re able to contribute to AFIMSC’s priorities of increasing readiness and strengthening Airmen by offering quality support to installations that are caring for the children and youth of Airmen and Guardians. Our military members can then focus on their missions when their children attend our world-class, accredited childcare programs designed to meet the developmental needs of children and youth in safe, nurturing environments.
