JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas –
Leaders from throughout Joint Base San Antonio came together Sept. 7 to sign a National Suicide Prevention Month proclamation during a ceremony at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston.
JBSA leadership pledged support to programs and initiatives to reduce suicide among service members and their families, retirees, veterans and Department of Defense civilians.
National Suicide Prevention Month is an observance that occurs each September to raise awareness about suicide prevention and help end the stigma around asking for help with suicidal thoughts.
This year’s theme, “Connect to Protect: Support Is Within Reach,” highlights the critical role relationships and interpersonal connections to family, friends, the community and resources can play in preventing suicide.
