502nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Department of Defense identification cardholders have several parking and shuttle options to get to the 2017 JBSA Air Show and Open House at Kelly Field Nov. 3-5.

Parking and shuttle service will be available at the following locations Nov. 3-5.

Port San Antonio – Public Entrance

There will be no parking at Port San Antonio for the rehearsal day, Nov. 3, as this is a normal PSA workday with no traffic control provided.  There are no other designated parking locations at PSA for the Nov. 3 event.

On Nov. 4-5, the public may enter the Air Show at the following locations from Highway 90: S.W. 36th Street, General McMullen Drive and General Hudnell Drive.  There will be no public parking or entrance from Military Drive.

Building 1610 is the drop-off point for physically handicapped individuals with parking/shuttle for drivers from building 1530.

Public parking at PSA costs $10. Proceeds go to Port San Antonio.

A VIA Park and Ride service will originate at Cross Roads Mall and costs $2.50 per rider, per way.   Ride sharing services such as Uber and Lyft should use the 36th Street entrance (address 201 North Frank Luke Drive).

JBSA-Lackland
Shuttles for rehearsal day, Nov. 3, will run from the Pfingston Reception Center (BMT) beginning at 11:30 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.  No other shuttles will be running at this time.

No public parking with exception of DoD ID card holders will be allowed on JBSA-Lackland.  One hundred percent ID checks will be in effect at all JBSA-Lackland gates beginning 12:01 a.m. Nov. 4. All personnel in each vehicle must be credentialed, with the exception of minors in the presence of an adult.  Personnel not in possession of an authorized DoD access credential or JBSA-Lackland-issued pass will require sponsorship and issuance of a pass.  It is recommended DoD ID card holders wishing to bring guests to the air show arrive at the visitor center early to obtain a pass for their guest. Access credentials are required not only to enter JBSA, but also to board the shuttle buses to and from the show.

On Nov. 4-5, parking for DoD-credentialed personnel (and credentialed guests) will be available in the lots near Wilford Hall Medical Center, Pfingston Reception Center, the Parade Field and in the parking lots near and to the south of the Airman Heritage Museum.

Guests attending the airshow who need physical assistance shuttle should be dropped off at building 1610, with the drop-off vehicles need to park at building 1530.

Shuttles will be available starting at 8:30 a.m. at Wilford Hall Urgent Care Clinic, the Gateway Club and the BMT Pfingston Reception Center.

Parking and shuttle service will also be available at building 5023, the JBSA-Lackland Fuel Service Station near vehicle operations and maintenance.

DoD ID card holders are encouraged to enter JBSA-Lackland at the Luke Gate off Military Drive or the Valley Hi gate, as well as to utilize on-base parking and shuttles which will provide them access to a DoD entry point at the event.
