Members of the 59th Medical Wing Aeromedical Staging Facility transfer a patient on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation into a C-17 Globemaster III, Jan. 16, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. ECMO is a heart-lung bypass system that circulates blood through an external artificial lung and sends it back into the patient’s bloodstream.

Brennan Wallace, Assistant Chief of Staff Engineer, U.S. Army South, spoke at the first International Technical Workshop of Military Engineering Oct. 21, hosted by the Colombian Army Engineers in Bogota, Colombia, at the Military School General Jose' Maria Cordova. Wallace spoke to the cadets and university students about military and civilian engineers’ roles to country infrastructure development and disaster relief missions.

BAMC Mobile Medics deploy in support of hurricane victims

The mobile medics connected with Stowe and provided high-definition, synchronous images of a Soldier’s eye using an optical exam camera and web-based video teleconferencing capability.

Michael Coscrelli, 502nd Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, and 502nd CES firefighters pull a fire truck Sept. 12 during the final challenge of the 2015 Battle of the Badges at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph. Battle of the Badges takes place each year to build camaraderie, espirit de corps and cohesion among JBSA first responders through various competitive challenges taken from their daily missions. The firefighters won all three main challenges for time, taking back the trophy from last year’s security forces’ victory and becoming the 2015 Battle of the Badges champions.

BAMC hosts Military Retiree Appreciation Day

BAMC had more than 70 specialty care clinics and 40 informational tables consisting of representatives from medical clinics at Fort Sam Houston, organizations and agencies serving veterans and retirees. At the health fair, free flu shots and immunizations and walk-in mammograms were also provided and prescription eyeglasses were ordered for retirees who had less than a year old prescriptions.

Band of the West has a new home

Band of the West is moving to its new home, the former basic military training reception center at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, in early November 2017. The $7 million dollar renovation project began in 2014, however, due to congressional sequestration, construction was halted and did not resumed until December 2016.
