Enhancing en route critical care: Nontechnical skills prove vital for better outcomes

Operation AGILE Medic, a week-long exercise at Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis, Texas, was a Tri-Service medical training exercise that immersed military medics in the seamless process of transporting patients from the Expeditionary Medical Support unit to the En Route Patient Staging System team, and further to Air Evacuation and Critical Care Air Transport Teams, and vice versa.

*Training* Hospital Corpsman Second Class Angel Hernandez treats his assigned casualty, a mannequin, while conducting Tactical Combat Casualty Care on March 17 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point.  The training includes two days of classroom instruction and culminates in a practical exercise involving mannequins equipped to simulate battlefield casualties.
