AFW2 expands social connections

The pandemic highlighted the need to feel more connected, as people tend to  feel isolated with various restrictions in place. Along with restrictions, warriors within the AFW2 program can sometimes already feel alone due to their trauma and recovery journey. With this challenge in mind, the Community Programs team felt the need to have wounded warriors, spouses and caregivers connect to others with similar backgrounds.

The Air Force Rated Preparatory Program provides qualified Airmen interested in cross-training to an Air Force rated career field the opportunity to gain and strengthen basic aviation skills. 
Program participants receive self-paced ground training, approximately eight flight hours in a Civil Air Patrol Cessna 182 Skylane, and additional training in FAA-certified simulators—helping them become more competitive for rated selection boards.

CARE event highlights continuous support for warriors, caregivers

This week more than 140 warriors and caregivers attended the Warrior CARE Event in San Antonio, Texas. This was the second time the Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) Program hosted a hybrid event where people attended in-person and virtually, and to say it was a success would be an understatement.

from around the country for a hybrid CARE Event, featuring a combination of in-person and virtual attendees. The CARE event focuses on the various support programs AFW2 offers, while also providing the face-to-face interaction many of them so desperately need.
