The 859th Diagnostics and Therapeutics Squadron (Lab) handed the 37th Training Group their first loss of the season as women's intramural volleyball continued earlier this week.
Lab defeated the 37th TRG 2-1 (21-18, 18-21, 15-9) March 13 at the Warhawk Fitness Center.
Stephanie Ambler scored eight points for Lab as they took the first match. The game-winning point went to Lab after TRG failed to control a hit along the net by Heather Vargas.
Lab dropped the second game by three points.
For TRG, Francis Osorio scored one ace on the serve. Osorio also tallied two points on kill shots. Aracelly Fields scored on a spike. Two out-of-bounds hits and a failed block gave TRG the winning margin.
Kristi Hales scored five points on serve for Lab during Game 2, including two aces. Ambler scored three points. Myreen Bueno and Denise Ladd both scored one point.
A kill shot by Elizabeth Morales put Lab over the top during Game 3. Bueno, Hales and Vargas also scored on well-timed hits.
After the match, the 37th TRG and Lab both shared first place at 3-1.
Also during women's intramurals March 13, the 59th Medical Operations Squadron picked up their first win of the season. MedOps beat the 37th Mission Support Group 2-0 (21-15, 21-14).
A soft dink on the corner by Erin Wooden gave MedOps the win during Game 1.
During the second frame, the 37th MSG returned a shot out of bounds to give MedOps the game and match-winning point. Melissa Garcia was on serve for MedOps when they won Game 2. Earlier for MedOps, Samantha Royal scored an ace on serve.
After the match, MedOps and MSG had 1-3 records.
