MSET coming to Lackland

By Tony Perez 37th Training Wing Public Affairs Office

The Air Education and Training Command Headquarters Maintenance Standardization and Evaluation Team will arrive at Lackland on March 10.

The MSET oversees performing inspection of aircraft, trainer and munitions maintenance activities within the command.

The Core team is comprised of aircraft and munitions maintenance experts assigned to the AETC.

The deputy of the Maintenance Division, Lt. Col. David Foote, was assigned to Randolph AFB in September 2006 and will lead the MSET team at Lackland.

The team will inspect equipment and maintenance conditions of the 37th Operations Support Squadron transient alert areas. The team will also inspect maintenance of training aircraft and equipment in hangars at Kelly Field Annex, which are used by the Inter-American Air Forces Academy.

The inspection will target personnel proficiency, operational safety, technical compliance with orders, equipment condition, training, accurate documentation and effective program management.

"We are excited about them coming," said Rick Kopp, chief of quality assurance for the 37th OSS. "It is an outstanding opportunity for us to show off what we do very well."

In preparation for the MSET team's visit, there will be a Team Lackland foreign object damage walk on the Kelly Field flightline on March. 7.

"After that, all that's left to do is prepare to welcome the MSET team," Mr. Kopps said.

The team's outbrief is scheduled for 2 p.m. on March 14.

"We are going to do outstanding," said Mr. Kopp.
