RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas –
The Randolph Air Force Base recognition program allows supervisors to honor the best-of-the-best in individual categories on both a quarterly and annual basis.
Randolph's category winners are not only honored before their peers and members of the entire base during special ceremonies, but they're also honored by local civic leaders, chambers of commerce and business owners, plus professional organizations.
Senior leaders from Randolph took the time to say thank you to all of the individuals and groups who play a role in the recognition program's success during an informal gathering at Randolph's Parr Club April 20.
"Each of you and the organizations you represent have gone above and beyond in supporting our awards program by recognizing our Airmen, NCOs, company grade officers and civilian award winners for their outstanding achievements throughout the year," Col. Scott Peel, 902nd Mission Support Group commander, said. "It's your continued support, loyalty, and graciousness that enable us to honor our outstanding performers in such a first-class manner. Our winners will remember the experience and your generosity for years to come."
Honored during the event were: Cassandra Miller, Randolph Metrocom Chamber of Commerce executive director; Ben Wehman, New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce military affairs committee chair;Gerald Hartmann, Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce director of the board; Kim Morris, Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce president; J.R. Williams, local Geico Insurance owner; Natasha Rowan, Broadway National Bank banking services manager; Steve Spence, Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union manager; Rick Huhn, First Command Financial Planning district manager; Cesar Rivera, Ryland Homes sales counselor; and Dick LaPorte, USAA military affairs representative. Unable to attend were representatives from AAFES and E G & G Management Services.
"The recognition program here is like no other that I've ever seen in my career," Chief Master Sgt. Jesus Mireles, 902nd MSG superintendent, said. "The involvement from local leaders and professional organizations is phenomenal and it's heartwarming to witness the care and support for our Randolph men and women throughout the year."
Representatives from Randolph's professional organizations also support quarterly and annual awards at Randolph and were recognized by the base's First Sergeants' Council.
Representatives attending were: David Allen, Officers' Spouses Club president; Lona Moore, Enlisted Spouses' Club president; Senior Master Sgt. Gregory Gallup, Chapter 1075 Air Force Sergeants' Association president; Chief Master Sgt. Emmette Bush, Randolph Chiefs' Group; Tom Goodwin, 902d Force Support Squadron; and Airman First Class Jerry Shackelford, Taj Mahal Noncommissioned Officer Association.
