JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas –
An opportunity for Joint Base San Antonio leaders to maximize their influence and effectiveness will be available at a special all-day event May 4.
Leadercast, a live broadcast from Atlanta featuring best-selling authors John Maxwell and Marcus Buckingham, NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, Ohio State University head football coach Urban Meyer and other world-class speakers, will be shown at all three JBSA installations, including JBSA-Randolph's Parr Club, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Karen Becker, 902nd Force Support Squadron Sustainment Flight chief, said the one-day leadership conference will inspire leaders to positively impact their organization and community and provide networking opportunities.
She also said the Randolph event will feature the presence of local businessman and former Air Force officer Mark Wasserman, a local Chick-fil-A restaurant owner who will speak during the luncheon.
"He will discuss how leadership works from a corporate perspective," Becker said.
Shelta Reese, 902nd FSS marketing director, called Leadercast "a fantastic training opportunity for anybody in a leadership role or anybody who aspires to be a leader or supervisor.
"The speakers are considered the tops in their professions," she said. "It's a great, great lineup."
Maxwell, a renowned leadership expert, is the author of "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, which has sold more than 2 million copies. Buckingham, co-author of "Now, Discover Your Strengths," helped create StrengthsFinder, a personal assessment tool that helps people describe their ingrained talents.
Tebow, who now plays for the New York Jets football team, is a former Heisman Trophy winner who guided the University of Florida to two national championships; his former coach at Florida, Meyer, now leads the Ohio State University Buckeyes.
Other speakers will include best-selling author and management consultant group president Patrick Lencioni, CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien, authors Sheena Iyengar and Andy Stanley, Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts and Harvard economics professor Roland Fryer.
Conference participants will get a day's worth of training, materials, a continental breakfast, lunch and snacks included in their registration fee.
