97th Air Mobility Wing leadership attend BMT graduation

By Ismael Ortega 502d Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Col. Richard K. Kind, 97th Air Mobility Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Jon T. Adams, 97th Air AMW command chief, from Altus Air force Base, Oklahoma, were at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, April 2 to preside over the Basic Military Training graduation ceremony.

The 97th AMW primarily focuses on pilot and aircrew training for the C-17 Globemaster III, KC-46 Pegasus, and KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft, providing formal school programs for up to 3,000 students annually. While its main mission is training, the wing also maintains an operationally ready instructor force capable of deploying to support global contingencies.

The ceremony is one of three graduation events for the Department of the Air Force Basic Military Training and signifies the transition from trainee to Airman. The 37th Training Wing, known as “Gateway to the Air Force,” is home to BMT.
