NCAA Trophy Tour brings March Madness to JBSA

By Summer Shuler 502d Air Base Wing Public Affairs

Service members at Joint Base San Antonio got a special preview of the excitement building for the upcoming NCAA Men's Final Four basketball tournament, as the official NCAA Final Four Trophy Tour made its way through JBSA this week.

The tour stopped at JBSA-Lackland on March 11, JBSA-Randolph on March 13, and JBSA-Fort Sam Houston on March 14, as part of a series of events designed to build enthusiasm for the upcoming NCAA Final Four weekend in San Antonio.

"The San Antonio Local Organizing Committee is proud to support JBSA and engage our local military community in the 2025 Men's Final Four,” said Kacey Danley, managing director for SALOC. “From working with the Military Engagement Committee, to executing Fan Jam with the youth center at JBSA-Lackland, to coordinating trophy tours across bases, this is a great opportunity to bring some of the NCAA energy to our military community.”

Service members participated in a variety of interactive activities, including photo opportunities with the NCAA Final Four trophy, shooting hoops, and receiving tickets to Fan Fest. Representatives from the NCAA and the Final Four were on hand to engage with attendees, spreading excitement for the pre-final and championship games to be held in April.

“I had the chance to attend the trophy tour at JBSA-Fort Sam location, and the energy was amazing,” said JBSA School Liaison Andrea Black. “Our students had the opportunity to take photos with the iconic championship trophy and experience some March Madness firsthand.”

The NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio is a widely anticipated event that draws fans and visitors from across the nation. Joint Base San Antonio's involvement, through events like the Trophy Tour, provided a unique opportunity for the military community to experience the excitement firsthand.

“Since the championship game is being held in San Antonio, also known as Military City USA, the trophy tour helped build anticipation and created unforgettable memories for our students,” Black added.

The events at JBSA served as an early opportunity for the military community to join in the excitement and experience a piece of the action.
