JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas –
If you’re ready to take your federal career to the next level, there’s an upcoming event that can point you in the right direction.
The 3rd Annual Fresh Look Federal Resume Event is planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 29 at the Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston Military & Family Readiness Center, located at 3060 Stanley Road, building 2797.
Whether you’re just beginning or looking to enhance your federal resume, this event has activities planned to help jobseekers succeed.
“This is tailored for active duty service members, transitioning service members, military spouses, dependents, veterans and civilians interested in pursuing federal employment,” said Wendy C. Council, 502nd Force Support Squadron community readiness consultant and employment assistance program manager. “It’s especially beneficial for those who are new to federal hiring processes or want to refine their existing resumes to better align with federal standards.”
Attendees can gain critical insights into navigating the federal hiring process from the JBSA Employment Assistance Program team and employment representatives, offering personalized feedback and proven strategies.
The event includes tips on tailoring resumes for USAJobs, using the right keywords, and understanding job announcement details. The event offers a hands-on opportunity to learn from employment experts and industry professionals specializing in federal recruitment.
“Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of federal resume writing techniques, learn how to tailor their resumes effectively and have resources to help them successfully navigate federal job applications,” Council said. “They’ll also have the chance to network with employment representatives who can offer advice and guidance."
Council anticipates having 10 to 12 representatives, including federal agency recruiters and subject matter experts, who are well-versed in the hiring process and available to answer questions.
“Attending this event will give participants a competitive edge in the federal hiring process,” she added. “The event provides exclusive access to tools and insights not readily available elsewhere, ensuring attendees can stand out among applicants.
“I encourage anyone interested to come with an open mind and thoughtful questions about federal employment,” Council added. “Attendees should bring a laptop or tablet for notetaking to maximize their learning experience.
