JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas –
Col. James Bershinsky accepted command of the 433rd Medical Group during an assumption of command ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland on March 3.
Col. William Gutermuth, 433rd Airlift Wing commander, presided over the ceremony and presented the 433rd MDG guidon to Bershinsky.
“Col. Bershinsky is a true warfighter. He knows precisely that we all need to remain ready at all times.” Gutermuth said. “I know you will do everything you can to support your Airmen under your command and make sure they have everything they need to support combatant commands.”
During the ceremony, Bershinsky thanked his family and friends for their support and shared prior experiences in his career that highlighted the value of Airmen in medicine.
“We have two missions,” Bershinsky said. “Mission number one is to make sure everybody in this wing is medically ready to do their job. Mission two is to ensure we provide good medicine downrange. I look forward to working with you all — let's drive this medical group forward.”
Bershinsky takes command of the 433d MDG that provides the overall managerial, administrative and operational oversight for more than 400 medical personnel. The group's Aerospace Medicine, Aeromedical Staging and Medical Squadrons provide critical support for combat readiness.
