JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, Texas –
The sounds of the holidays will fill the air with two "Holiday in Blue" concert performances by the U.S. Air Force Band of the West at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 and 13, 2023, at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio.
The two concerts are part of the Band's annual "Holiday in Blue" performance series.
"All of our performances are free and open to the public," said Tech. Sgt. Benjamin Johnson, U.S. Air Force Band of the West, ‘Top Flight’, non-commissioned officer in charge. "Tickets are free to all! They can be found through our website, https://www.music.af.mil/Bands/Band-of-the-West/, and at our Eventbrite page."
This year, the Band of the West will perform holiday classics, fan favorites, and more, teaming up with the American Idol Season Eight winner, Kris Allen. Santa may visit the show also.
The conductor for the concerts will be Maj. Dustin Doyle, U.S. Air Force Band of the West commander.
The U.S. Air Force Band of the West performs hundreds of concerts yearly for military and civilian audiences in several states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas.
"Consider this a ‘thank-you-note’ to Military City, USA. San Antonio has always taken great care of their military servicemembers," Johnson said.
The mission of the U.S. Air Force Band of the West is to honor all the men and women who serve and have served in the Armed Forces and to inspire and connect.
"The Airmen of the Band of the West have a passion for music and our community," Johnson said. "We put on these annual concerts as an opportunity for San Antonio to come together and celebrate the holidays!"
Holiday in Blue concerts offer the opportunity to unite the local community and strengthen the partnership between the USAF, Band of the West, JBSA, and Military City USA.
