Headquarters Air Force official visits Alamo Wing

By Senior Airman Mark Colmenares 433rd Airlift Wing Public Affairs

Brig. Gen. Max Stitzer, mobilization assistant to Headquarters Air Force Director of Staff, toured the 433rd Airlift Wing at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland March 4-5. Stitzer's visit took place over several days, during which Stitzer toured various units and squadrons to learn about their work and meet with leadership.

Stitzer presented coins to outstanding performers in the 433rd Maintenance Group and talked to 433rd MXG Quality Assurance Inspectors to gain their perspectives on their jobs. He also toured other maintenance facilities and 433rd Mission Support Group areas as well.

Capt. Joshua Loya, 433rd Maintenance Squadron maintenance operations officer, guided Stitzer on the tour.

“He has been here before,” Loya said. “And it is nice to have someone here at the Headquarters Air Force level to see firsthand what the Airmen do, what our mission is like, and to provide his perspective to the folks that don't see those things from day to day.”

Stitzer echoed Loya's sentiment and stressed the importance of appreciating the service and support of the airmen.

“They deserve the opportunity to hear from leadership; how important they are and how valued they are; and how much we appreciate their service and the support from their families and their communities,” said Stitzer. “In the case of Reservists, their employers too — their communities that loan them to us so they can do this important work.”

The visit took place over the 433rd AW’s March Unit Training Assembly, during which Stitzer met with Reserve Citizen Airmen to receive direct feedback on challenges and successes.
