JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas –
A U.S. Air Force E-3 Sentry, assigned to the 552nd Air Control Wing, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, and its crew used Joint Base San Antonio-Kelly Field Annex, Texas to fly to the Roar by the Shore air and space expo in South Padre Island, Texas.
The E-3 Sentry is an airborne warning and control system aircraft with an integrated command and control battle management, surveillance, target detection, and tracking platform.
The aircraft provides an accurate, real-time picture of the battlespace to the Joint Air Operations Center. AWACS provides situational awareness of friendly, neutral, and hostile activity, all-altitude and all-weather surveillance of the battle space, and early warning of enemy actions during joint, allied, and coalition operations.
